Actually, women blink about twice as often as men. Nobody is totally certain as to why. The function of blinking serves to moisten the eye, so it is possible that women have drier eyes than men.

More Eyeball Facts:

  • On average, a person blinks 15 times per minute — more than 10,000 times per day.

  • The human eye is one of the most complex organs in the body — second only to the brain — with more than two million working parts.

  • One eyeball is about 1 inch (2.5 cm) in diameter and weighs about 1 ounce (28 grams). From the outside, only one sixth of the eyeball is visible.
