The Nigerian film industry, nicknamed Nollywood, makes more movies a year than Hollywood. As of 2014, Nollywood makes more than 1,000 films per year. Nigeria is a country in West Africa and the most populous in the continent. The Nigerian film industry has been a robust one since the 1990s.

Between 1990 and 2010, the number of Nigerian films produced per year has increased impressively. The production quality of films has also been on the rise, as more Nigerian films are comparable to Hollywood films in production values. Nigerian films are also becoming more popular outside of Nigeria, especially in large cities with a Nigerian diaspora.
