Has Samsung Always Been a Major Electronics Company?

Although it is one of the most well known electronics brands in the world today, Samsung has not always been a major electronics company. Samsung began in 1938 as a company selling dried fish in South Korea.

The South Korean brand Samsung was founded by Lee Byung-Chull in the city Daegu. The business exported foods like dried fish, fruits and vegetables to places like Beijing. Over time, manufacturing was expanded to other types of goods and the business eventually developed into the electronics brand called "Samsung-Sanyo Electronics" in 1969. Today it is known as "Samsung Electronics."

The success story of Samsung is truly an inspirational one and can undoubtedly be attributed to the right decisions made by the founder and his children who continue to lead the company.

More about Samsung:

  • Samsung released its first television in 1972 and its first mobile phone in 1988.
  • Unsatisfied with the quality of Samsung products in the early 1990s, Chairman Lee Kun-hee is believed to have told Samsung executives to "change everything but your wife and children."
  • Samsung was the biggest smartphone provider in the world in 2011.
