When selecting the best coconut body scrub, there are several factors that must be taken into account. These include whether you want a homemade scrub or a store-bought product, which parts of the body the scrub will be used on, and personal preference. By carefully weighing these three different factors, it is much easier to select the perfect body scrub for your needs.

The first thing to understand before attempting to select the best coconut body scrub, however, is just how the product is designed to work. Body scrubs are typically made of two primary components; an exfoliant and an emollient. The exfoliants are the rough particles in the product that help to scrub away dead skin cells and may be made from a variety of materials, including crushed almonds, sugar, or salt. The emollient is the oil or lotion base in the product which helps to moisturize and protect the newly exposed layers of skin.

If you prefer the convenience of buying pre-made body scrubs, then a store-bought coconut body scrub is your best choice. They come in a range of price points and are blended to suit a variety of needs. If you tend to be more of a do-it-yourself type of person or just enjoy the process of creating your own bath and beauty products at home, a homemade coconut body scrub can actually be very simple to make. They only require a handful of ingredients and can be customized to your exact liking.

Regardless of whether you choose to go the homemade route or select a store-bought product, the area of your body you intend to use the product on is crucial when making your selection or creating your recipe. Facial scrubs, for example, should contain very fine scrubbing particles so as not to damage the finer skin of the face and neck area. For full-body scrubs, a slightly rougher texture can be used since the skin on the body from the neck down tends to be more resilient than facial skin. If the scrub is specifically for the feet and hands, where dry and calloused skin is a common problem, a coconut body scrub with the highest level of exfoliation is the best choice.

Since coconut body scrubs can be made or purchased in a variety of types and styles and are often blended with other fruits and various oils, the final factor to keep in mind centers around personal preference. The various materials used in the coconut body scrub can not only play a factor in how natural the product is, but they can also create noticeable differences in the smell of the scrub, the consistency, and the overall feel of the product. As long as the product meets the basic functional needs you are seeking, the additional elements of the scrub should be chosen to cater to your personal likes or dislikes.

@alex94: I am not sure how well it would work on your whole body, but I can give you the directions on how to make a coconut face cream. The things that you would need are coconut oil, baking soda, water, coconut fragrance, and stearic acid.

It is best to use a double boiler when making this. Melt two tablespoons of stearic acid with ¼ cup of the coconut oil in the double boiler. Heat it until the stearic acid is melted into the oil. Then, remove the pot from the heat.

Mix ½ tsp. baking soda into ½ cup water in the microwave and let it cook for one minutes. Stir the baking soda mixture into the melted oil mixture. Add a few drops of coconut fragrance. You can make your mixture fluffy by mixing it all up in a blender. You should get a white fluffy cream.

You can store it in a jar with a lid.
