When choosing evening jumpsuits, try to avoid fabric that is too casual unless you have accessories that you are sure can dress it up sufficiently. If you will be wearing high heels, make sure the bottoms of the legs are not too wide. Low-cut evening jumpsuits may be appropriate for some individuals on some occasions, but make sure that they are right for you and your needs. If you will be on stage, consider adding glamor by choosing items that have decorations, such as sequins or crystals.

With evening jumpsuits, the type of material is very important. If you are not selective about the fabric, you may end up with garments that are too casual for your needs. In the event that you do decide to get items that can be toned down, you will need to make thoughtful decisions about your accessories when you wear the jumpsuit as evening apparel.

You need to consider the types of shoes that you will be wearing with your evening jumpsuits. This type of apparel is often most fashionable with high heels. If you plan to wear high heels, it is very important that you assess the manner in which the legs of the jumpsuits are cut. You may even want to take a pair of shoes with you when you are shopping. Doing so should reveal that when the bottoms of the legs are too wide they will generally cover an undesirable amount of your shoes, creating a look that can often best be described as tacky.

As you are shopping, you may find many low-cut evening jumpsuits. Before you rush to purchase any of these, there are a couple of things that you want to consider. First, you need to consider the occasion, because for professional or religious affairs you may want to pass on a low-cut piece. Second, you need to consider the size of your breasts. A one-piece garment, especially one that narrows at the waist, has the potential to make a person look more flat-chested than other types of apparel. If you have large breasts, you also need to be careful in determining that the design is secure enough to prevent overexposure.

Another issue that often arises with one-piece garments is the effect that they can have on a person’s body shape. If you are tall and slim, you may find that evening jumpsuits spotlight your lack of curves in an unflattering way. Choosing designs that accommodate belt wearing can be an easy solution. On the contrary, if you have a fuller figure, you may want to avoid belts and be selective with regard to colors and designs on the fabric.

If you are purchasing evening jumpsuits for performances or events that require you to be on stage, you may want to consider something with some shimmer. A moderate amount of sequins, beads, or crystals can capture the light from overhead, and this can have glamorous effects. Try to avoid overkill, however, because too much shimmer can be distracting or an outright eye sore.

@Grivusangel -- Nearly spit my coffee out laughing when I read your post.

I remember when jumpsuits were all the rage, and you saw singers wearing them all the time. My mom said then that no one really looked good in them, and after trying a few on, I have to agree with her. There's nowhere to hide anything unflattering. The jumpsuit shows it all.

If you do decide that the event simply begs for an evening jumpsuit, at least choose one in navy or black and accessorize with a couple of pieces of bling. I wouldn't opt for sparkle or sequins. Just go plain and let the jewelry and shoes speak for themselves.

In my humble opinion, Cher is the only entertainer who could successfully rock an evening jumpsuit. If it was still 1977 and Studio 54 was open and going, talking about "evening jumpsuits" would be on trend. Not now. 1977 was a good long while ago, and while the jumpsuit is making something of a fashion comeback (for reasons I cannot begin to fathom), to me there is no such thing as a "best" evening jumpsuit. Women should stay far, far away from them.

I don't think jumpsuits flatter any woman, and the only time they should be worn is when one is, in fact, jumping from an airplane! And even then, it will be a utilitarian flight suit that has a purpose.
