There is a wide range of homeopathic fertility options available, ranging from simple diet and exercise changes to special herbs and vitamins. Acupuncture and reflexology are also sometimes used as homeopathic fertility treatments. Choosing the best homeopathic treatment for increasing fertility will depend on the nature of the infertility as well as the cost, ease, convenience, and safety of the treatment.

Many individuals experiencing infertility will choose the simplest homeopathic fertility treatments first. These often include behavioral changes such as modifying the diet, increasing the amount of light exercise, and decreasing the amount of stress experienced. Dietary changes to improve fertility in both men and women include eating a healthier and more balanced diet that is full of fruits, vegetables, and healthy sources of protein and fat. Processed snack foods and high amounts of trans fat, salt, and sugar can exacerbate any preexisting health conditions, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, or thyroid problems, and may decrease fertility. Switching to organic fruits, vegetables, and animal products can also help improve fertility, as pesticides and hormones sometimes found in animal products can also put fertility at risk.

Exercise and stress management are also homeopathic fertility treatments that are low-cost and generally easy to implement. Light to moderate exercise can boost fertility, especially in individuals who are either underweight or overweight, but overly strenuous exercise should be avoided. Some people have found that reducing the levels of stress that they experience can help their body rejuvenate, as stress reduction likely lowers blood pressure, decreases the number of stress hormones in the blood, and improves the quality and amount of sleep.

For individuals electing to take herbs, vitamins, or supplements to increase fertility, there are several homeopathic fertility remedies available. Sepia 6c is a natural fertility treatment for women who have experienced irregular ovulation or a lack of ovulation, but women who have experienced recurring miscarriages are instead advised to take Sabina 6c. Aurum is recommended for women who have either depression or a reduced sex drive. Silica is sometimes recommended to improve the immune system in women, and phosphorus is sometimes recommended to decrease stress levels and anxiety. Homeopathic fertility treatments for men include Sepia 6c for a decreased sex drive and medorrhinum for impotence.

Acupuncture and reflexology therapies are other homeopathic fertility remedies that some individuals elect to undergo. While these treatments are generally more costly than diet and exercise changes or supplements, some have found them to be effective at increasing fertility. Before beginning any homeopathic fertility treatment, it is best to consult your doctor to make sure that the practice is safe.

Another important distinction to make is among the various causes of infertility. Both men and women are more likely to find natural remedies for infertility effective is the cause is related to their general health, something like an irregular menstrual cycle or low sperm count.

But some causes are more physical than chemical. A dear friend of mine has Fallopian tubes that are blocked by scar tissue from a teenage case of PID (pelvic inflammatory disease, which in her case was caused by untreated chlamydia - she was too embarrassed to see a doctor). All the diet in the world won't unblock them, so she is facing the difficult decision between IVF, surrogacy, and adoption.

It's important here I think to differentiate between the two different ways to use the word "homeopathic." In its narrower definition, a homeopathic treatment is one in which a substance is heavily diluted (often, even sophisticated tests cannot detect it) and then used to treat a condition.

The article uses the term in a more general sense, which is also common - meaning just "natural" remedies.

In addition to choosing a special fertility diet and making healthy lifestyle changes, some women are able to regulate irregular menstrual cycles using light. Basically, you sleep in *complete* darkness most days of the month (yes, you'll need to redirect your bedroom) and then with a nightlight on for a few days around ovulation. It has been proven effective at regulating cycles in a clinical study.
