If you are looking for a fun way to enjoy a bowl of ice cream, hard shell topping could be just what you need. When you are trying to decide on an ice cream topping, look for one that is thick but pours easily. It might be easier to do this if you buy hard shell toppings in a glass jar rather than a squirt bottle. You can buy this topping in many flavors, so it can be easy to choose one you like.

When you are trying to decide on a hard shell topping, it can be a good idea to choose a reputable brand. That way, you can be sure the ice cream topping will set up properly, but not be too hard for you to bite into. If you have never tried this product before, you may want to see if certain brands are on sale, or you may be able to find a manufacturer's coupon to use. Doing so will let you know whether you like a certain brand without spending a great deal of money on it.

The ideal hard shell topping is somewhat thick and has a consistency similar to that of corn syrup. This means it could be difficult to spread this topping on ice cream if it is in a squirt bottle. You may want to consider buying ice cream topping in a glass jar, especially if the mouth of the jar is large enough for you to stick a spoon into it.

Hard shell topping comes in many flavors, and some of the more common ones are chocolate and caramel. When chocolate shell topping is drizzled over vanilla ice cream, the end result is similar to that of an ice cream bar. Caramel shell topping may taste something like a sundae, with the exception that it is somewhat crunchy. When you are trying to decide what flavor to buy, it can be helpful to think about the flavor of ice cream you are eating and what your individual tastes are.

If you are unable to find a hard shell topping that you like, you may want to make one from scratch. You can do this by melting baking chips and butter in a double boiler until they are completely melted. This concoction should be allowed to cool before drizzling it over ice cream. Adding this topping to ice cream can result in a delicious treat, whether you are making it for yourself or several guests.

@Markus - Hard shell ice cream toppings should never be refrigerated. They'll become as hard as a rock and you'll never get it out of the jar again. But don't worry, they have a pretty long shelf life even after they've been opened.

It should be just as good when you get home as it was the day you left. Oh, and check the label for the expiration date just to be sure. You can always pack it up and take it with you on your trip if time is running out.

I'm getting ready to go on vacation and I have an opened bottle of Reese's chocolate peanut butter topping for ice cream.

We're going to be gone for about two weeks and I was wondering if I should refrigerate the topping while we're away or not. Any ideas?
