Choosing the right supplements for semen will depend on the condition you want to treat. If you want to promote overall fertility, taking a multivitamin is usually a good idea. There are also specialty products on the market that help with semen production and fertility, since sperm need an adequate amount of healthy semen in order to survive.

There are many various supplements for semen you can choose from on the market. Many of them likely have similar ingredients, but you should do your research carefully. Read customer reviews to determine how well particular products work, and research all ingredients for safety and effectiveness. You should also discuss any health issues you think you have, as well as any supplements you may take, with your doctor.

If you want to take supplements for semen that will help with your overall fertility, the best thing to do is to take a daily multi-vitamin since most of the ingredients found within them is necessary for fertility. Should you feel that you are deficient in a particular vitamin, you can have your doctor check you to find out for sure. If you are deficient, take a supplement in the vitamin or mineral you are deficient in.

Men with fertility problems may need additional supplements for semen. If you have a low sperm count, low sperm mobility, or inadequate semen production, there are a wide range of supplements on the market you can choose from. Do an Internet search or talk to a natural health practitioner to find formulas suited to your specific problem. Then, read consumer reviews or try to find studies performed on each ingredient to determine which items may be the most beneficial.

Be sure you keep in mind that there are habits you may have that are hindering your efforts at having a child, no matter how many supplements you take. Eating a diet that is high in fat and low in nutritional value is one example, as well as using tobacco or excessively drinking alcohol. Check with a fertility specialist about these and other issues to find the true root to your problem. Your partner should also be checked for any problems with her fertility, and she should abstain from risky behaviors as well.

Vitamin C and vitamin D are also beneficial for semen. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant and it helps keep semen healthy.

Men who smoke and who drink alcohol should also quit these if they have low semen volume. Tobacco and alcohol are toxins and no matter how much vitamin C one takes, it's not going to help if these toxins are not avoided.

@ddljohn-- There are many vitamins that are beneficial for semen and sperm. For semen specifically, I recommend vitamin E, coenzyme Q10 and selenium. A multivitamin might not have the proper doses for these, so you might want to take them separately.

If you also want to improve sperm, zinc, vitamin B complex, vitamin E and Omega 3 are great supplements. You should ask your doctor before you start on any of these though. It might not be safe to take everything together.

Also, keep in mind that it takes three months for semen to completely renew. So you might just need to wait longer to see the effects of your multivitamin. If after three months, there are no changes, you should see a doctor because there might be another underlying cause.

I've been taking a multivitamin for the past one month to improve my semen quantity and quality. But I don't think it has made any difference. It's a good multivitamin with vitamin C, B, A, E, calcium and iron. Should I be taking other supplements as well?
