How do I Choose the Best Swimming Pool Builder?

One of the most complicated aspects of building a new pool is choosing a swimming pool builder. Pool construction can take several weeks or months, and many unforeseen problems can arise. It’s important to choose a contractor who is professional and experienced. Recommendations from satisfied customers are a great starting point. You also should consider the credentials of any potential swimming pool contractor.

The first step in choosing a swimming pool builder is asking people you know for recommendations. Check with family members, friends, and neighbors who have pools. This can help you find out which contractors to avoid as well. If your house was built recently, ask your contractor for recommendations.

Once you have a list of names you are considering, check out their credentials. Check to see if they are Certified Pool Builders by the Association of Pool and Spa Professionals. This is a major swimming pool trade organization that educates and tests its members in addition to requiring continuing education. You should also check with the Better Business Bureau to see if any of the swimming pool builders you are considering have had any complaints filed against them.

Experience is another important aspect to consider when choosing a swimming pool builder. You should find out not only how long the company has been building pools, but how many pools it has actually built. Also ask if the builder has ever operated under a different name or in a different city. Conduct some independent research to verify this information.

Ask the swimming pool builder you are considering for proof of insurance. Make sure that the builder offers a warranty to back up the work. You also should ask if the builder will provide a sample contract for you to show your lawyer. Avoid swimming pool contractors who balk at this request. Ensure that they specify the exact brands of materials and equipment used for the job in the contract.

You should ask each swimming pool builder you are considering for references. Ask for names of both recent and past customers and call several of them to see if they were satisfied with the work. Also try to find out if the contractors you are considering normally build the same type of pool you want.

Don’t choose a swimming pool builder solely on price. In many cases, you get what you pay for with swimming pool construction. Poor quality materials can end up costing a lot more in the long run. Each swimming pool contractor should come to your house and give you an estimate in person based on the specific layout of your yard. Avoid contractors who speak badly about other builders or customers.

A final consideration is whether the swimming pool builder offers repairs or pool service. This is not a requirement, but in many cases it leads to a better pool building experience. Builders who are hoping to retain you as a pool maintenance client in the future are often place a heavier emphasis on good customer service and communication.

Well these are very interesting points which we should keep in mind while choosing a contractor for swimming pool, because I think the pool's life depends on the builder. An inexperienced person cannot build a pool like a professional, experienced person.
