If it is your goal to attain smooth skin free of wrinkles and cellulite, you might be curious about whether toning lotion tends to work. While no product is guaranteed to work on everyone, it cannot hurt to try in most cases. Before you purchase such a product, you should consider what your desired outcome is, its ingredients, and what you have heard about it.

Cellulite can be found nearly anywhere on the body, though the thighs, buttocks, arms, and stomach are the body parts that are most often affected. If you want to eliminate these pockets of fat, look for a toning lotion that specifically claims to be anti-cellulite since it will be targeted toward the skin found on the most affected body parts. On the other hand, if you want to tighten up the skin on your face in order to mask wrinkles, you will need toning lotion that is specially formulated for the thinner, more sensitive facial skin. The two types of lotions are typically not interchangeable, so pay attention to each product's intended use before you buy.

Most of the best lotions on the market for either body or facial toning contain a few certain ingredients. For example, vitamin E is found in many lotions on the market since it moisturizes the skin. Retinol is another ingredient found in many quality lotions, as it appears to rejuvenate the skin. Caffeine is an ingredient that is known for increasing the energy found in cells, and therefore helpful in smoothing the skin. Additionally, you may find tea tree oil, aloe vera, and cucumber extract to be popular items in various types of toning lotion.

You may also notice that many kinds of toning lotion contain elastin and collagen, both of which are important when it comes to firming up skin. Unfortunately, many experts have found that slathering it on the skin does little, if anything, to smooth it out since these products cannot be absorbed by the body very well. Therefore, products that claim to use these as their active ingredients might not be the best on the market since they are using old or unverified claims to market themselves.

It can also be a good idea to pay attention to what other people say about products before purchasing. Finding out if family and friends have had success with a particular toning lotion is a good idea, as is reading online reviews. The opinions of experts, such as dermatologists, can also be helpful since they can at least let you know the best ingredients to look for before you buy.

@cloudel – You usually don't hear too many men wanting toning lotion, but my husband is the same way. He aged a little and things started to sag a bit, and he wanted his youthful appearance back.

He found a men's toning lotion that also serves as an aftershave. Maybe that is so men will not feel self-conscious about buying it.

This lotion soothes the burning of shaving, but it also tightens up his pores. It keeps his skin from turning bright red and breaking out, and it seems to have the same effect as a women's anti-aging cream. The more he uses it, the tighter his skin seems to become.

What sort of toning lotions are available for men? My boyfriend has been complaining a lot about the sagging skin under his chin and on his neck. He's only in his thirties, but I think he is having a mid-life crisis.

It really doesn't look bad to me, but he is looking for ways to firm it up. He's not overweight by more than five pounds, so I don't think it's an issue with fat.

Is there a toning lotion out there that could help him? I really would like for him to feel confident about his appearance again.

I use a facial toning lotion as a moisturizer. It makes me look brighter and younger than my other anti-aging lotions did.

I notice a certain radiance and newness as soon as I apply it. I put it on both in the morning and at night to get the best results.

Since our skin heals itself as we sleep, I think it is good to wear this at night for an extra boost. I also love putting it on before applying my foundation, because it makes me look awake even if I'm very sleepy. The sudden tightening of my skin also serves to wake me up a little.

There might be something to the caffeine in toning body lotions. I have heard of people using coffee grounds in cellulite wraps and achieving good results.

They mix the coffee grounds with either salt or sugar and olive oil. They rub them into their thighs and wrap them up for awhile, and they claim that their cellulite is reduced. Since these people are not selling any actual product, I tend to believe them.

It would be a lot easier to use a product like a toning body lotion than to mix up your own and sit around in a leg wrap. I would be more willing to try the lotion than the other option.
