There are several different recipes instructing people how to make a Snickers® pie. Recipes vary primarily in the ingredients used and whether it is baked, microwaved or frozen. People can try one recipe or try them all; regardless, the result will be one of the most delicious desserts. Once someone learns how to make a Snickers® pie, it is sure to become a family favorite.

One of the easiest versions of Snickers® pie uses only a few main ingredients; yet, it is extremely delicious. To make a Snickers® pie using this simplified recipe, simply gather, combine, and cook on the stove top the following items: 25 marshmallows, 6 Snickers® bars, and 2/3 cups (150 ml) milk. Allow the items to cool, then add 1 cup (250 ml) of whipping cream to the mixture. Pour the entire mixture into a store-bought pie shell and cool for about two hours. Then, top with Cool Whip®.

Another version of Snickers® pie uses additional items for an entire different result. Make the pie this way, and the result is more of a decadent ice cream pie. First, heat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius). Then, mix and press into a pie plate the following: 2 cups (500 ml) of crushed Oreo® cookies, ½ cup (125 ml) of chopped dry roasted peanuts, and ¼ cup (60 ml) of melted butter. Bake the ingredients for about 10 minutes; this will make the pie shell. As it is cooling, chop 8 Snickers® bars into bite size pieces and fold it into 2 quarts (1.89 l) of softened ice cream. Next, spoon the ice cream mixture into the pie shell. Lastly, drizzle ¼ cup (60 ml) of caramel sauce and ¼ cup (60 ml) of chocolate sauce over the top. Freeze the pie for about four hours.

A third version of the Snickers® pie uses a microwave, instead of a stovetop or an oven. It may be the easiest of all the recipes for those who want to make a Snickers® pie. Simply combine and microwave 4 large Snickers® bars, 12 large marshmallows, and ½ cup (125 ml) of milk, until the Snickers® bars are melted. Then, let the ingredients cool. Next, add 8 ounces (250 ml) of Cool Whip® to the cooled mixture. Pour the entire mixture into a store-bought chocolate pie crust and freeze it for about 4 hours.

One of the last variations uses pudding instead of ice cream for a refreshing treat. Start by mixing together: 1 ½ (350 ml) cups of milk, two 3 ¾ ounce (120 ml) boxes of instant vanilla pudding, and ½ cup (125 ml) of Cool Whip®. These ingredients should be mixed into they have a smooth consistency. Next, add 3 Snickers® bars that are cut into small pieces. The entire mixture should be poured into a store-bought pie shell. Then, combine and mix until smooth another 1 ½ cups (350 ml) of milk, ½ cup (125 ml) of Cool Whip®, and two 3 ¾ ounce (125 ml) boxes of instant chocolate pudding. Spread the chocolaty mixture on top of the vanilla mixture. Sprinkle a few extra Snickers® bar crumbs on top.

The reality of making a Snickers® pie is that Snickers® do not necessarily need to be used. In fact, people can make a Snickers® pie with almost any candy bar. Choices range from 3 Musketeers® to Crunch® bars. Follow one of these recipes or create your own version; the choices are endless.

All of these are great recipes. But always remember to spread some hot fudge sauce on the bottom of the crust. Yum, yum.

Many people prefer a pie crust or graham cracker crust, but I love the chocolate cookie crust for this kind of pie -- and yes, still with the hot fudge on the bottom.

And really, where would the refrigerated dessert market be without Cool Whip? I guess it was just fortuitous that the advent of refrigerators in every home should coincide with the invention of Cool Whip.

Snickers pie is the cousin of the Milky Way pie and the mudslide pie – all of which are decadent, fat-laden, highly caloric desserts that you should probably only eat about once a year.
