With more than 7 million residents, Hong Kong is a city-state that has seen a great deal of development since the middle of the 20th century. One of the most densely populated places in the world, a little less than 25 percent of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China has been developed. About 40 percent is devoted to country parks and native reserves.
