Anti-wrinkle products are used by many people in an attempt to take years off of their appearance. Many people swear by their effectiveness, though not all of them have been scientifically proven to work. There are a variety of anti-wrinkle products which include creams, serums, eye creams, injections and pillows.

Creams are the most popular of the anti-wrinkle products, with most of them being available over-the-counter. A majority of the anti-wrinkle creams contain anti-oxidant compounds, such as vitamin A derivatives, that rejuvenate epithelial cells. Some of these creams also contain alpha-hydroxy acids to remove the dead layer of skin cells, which makes the skin look younger and, therefore, diminishes the appearance of wrinkles. Facial creams that claim to lessen the appearance of wrinkles may also contain ingredients such as shea butter, copper peptides, gamma amino butyric acid and ibedenone. Depending upon your skin type, these creams may, or may not, work for you.

Serums are one of the only anti-wrinkle products in which you can feel the effects it has on your skin immediately after application. Anti-wrinkle serums contain DMAE, vitamin C, alpha lipoic acid, ester and argirline. These chemicals train the skin to produce elastin and collagen, therefore reducing the appearance of wrinkles. Look for serums that work at the neurotransmitter level to diminish the appearance of deep wrinkles and laugh lines.

Crow's feet are one of the biggest complaints among women. They develop around the outer edge of the eye, sometime causing a tired appearance. Eye cream is believed to be effective in reduce crow's feet and puffiness around the eye. The primary ingredient in the most effective eye creams is retinol, as it has been scientifically proven to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Other effective eye creams include those that contain collagen derivatives, coenzyme Q 10 and wakame.

For those that can afford it, injectable wrinkle fillers are the best way to diminish the appearance of wrinkles. These injections are either permanent or temporary, depending upon the filler used. A permanent wrinkle filler contains polymethylmethacrylate beads (PMMA microspheres), which are not absorbed by the body. Temporary wrinkle fillers contain one of four different products; collagen, hyaluronic acid gel, calcium hydroxylapatite, or poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). These must be performed every three to six months to keep wrinkles at bay.

Anti-wrinkle pillows are recommended by many people to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, and prevent more from forming. Many people feel that wrinkles form because of the amount of time spent sleeping with a pillow crushed against your face. Anti-wrinkle pillows cradle the head and shoulders, no matter which position you choose to sleep in. This prevents the pillow from being pressed against your face, stopping the formation of lines and wrinkles.
