What are Blank Books?

Blank books are books that crafters and do-it-yourselfers can use to create their own books. As the name implies, blank books do not contain any words or pictures inside. They do, however, have a hard cover and blank pages inside, which the crafter can decorate in any manner that he or she sees fit.

Blank books can be used for a variety of purposes. One of the most common uses for blank books is the craft of scrapbooking. When using blank books for scrapbooking, the crafter cuts out special pictures or other clippings and places them inside the book in a decorative fashion. The crafter then further decorates the pages by using markers to add color or by cutting patterns out of special srapbooking paper. To add to the interest of this paper, the crafter may use special scissors that cut the paper in interesting ways. This makes the outer perimeter of the paper decorative and clean.

Scrapbooking is typically used to help preserve memories. These books, once completed, are often displayed at special occasions such as weddings, graduations, and anniversaries. In this way, guests can browse through the books and share in special memories the guest or guests of honor may have experienced.

Blank books may also be used for diary or journal writing. In this case, the pages of the blank books typically have lines on which the owner can write his or her thoughts. This is different from blank books used for scrapbooking, which are typically filled with blank pieces of paper.

Blank books can also be used to display awards and certificates. The owner may place special mats inside the book to hold the awards or certificates in place. In some cases, the pages in blank books come equipped with notches meant to hold the corners of certificates and awards. Often, these blank books are filled with colored paper in order to add more interest and to make the book more attractive to look through.
