Hershey, Pennsylvania was created by Milton S. Hershey, the man who started the Hershey Company, the largest chocolate factory in North America. The famous chocolatier built a town where his employees could work, live, and find wholesome recreation for the family. Today, this particular town is a resort area that caters to families from all walks of life.

Chocolate lovers can take a tour at Hershey's® Chocolate World where they can travel through a simulated chocolate factory filled with animated characters and special effects. At the conclusion of the tour, guests receive a free chocolate sample. Hershey's® Chocolate World also includes a Factory Works attraction where guests can design and package their own chocolate candies. A 3D show and a trip on an old-fashioned trolley round out the chocolate-flavored activities.

People who love amusement rides can visit Hersheypark, an amusement park that offers more than 60 rides and attractions. Golfers in the family can play at several golf courses. There's even a golf course designed especially for children called Spring Creek Golf Course.

Hershey Gardens features two botanical gardens, the Children's Garden and the Butterfly House. The Children's Garden is an area created for kids that boasts a variety of flowers and characters while The Butterfly House is a garden that shelters over 300 butterflies. Visitors learn about the life cycle of the butterfly in this garden that is open to the public from June to the middle of September.

Tourists who would like to spend their vacation relaxing and being pampered may wish to visit the Chocolate Spa. The spa offers a variety of services including facials, massages, a hair salon, and a fitness center. Guests can enjoy a variety of soothing services that range from Chocolate Hydrotherapy to body wraps and everything in between.

This historic Pennsylvania town is also the location for a zoo called ZooAmerica North American Wildlife Park where 200 animals can be seen on the zoo's 11 acres. Animal exhibits at the zoo include Grassy Waters, Eastern Woodlands, Cactus Community, Big Sky Country, and North Woods. The zoo offers guided tours, on-site education programs, and opportunities to interact with certain animals at the zoo. Throughout the year, visitors can participate in special events at the zoo as well.

Chocolate lovers may wish to stroll through a local museum that celebrates the life of the man who created the company, his dream of a successful chocolate empire, as well as his charitable works. Museum visitors can view a variety of exhibits, participate in hands-on activities, visit the gift shop, eat a variety of chocolate treats, and view chocolate-themed memorabilia.

Tourists can book a room at one of several sites, two hotels or a campground. All rooms within the hotels are decorated around a chocolate theme and feature amenities to suit a variety of tastes. The local campground allows families to camp under the stars. Families can camp in their own RV or tent, but can also reserve a log or rustic cabin. Swimming pools, a playground, volleyball, basketball, shuffleboard, and other activities are available to those who choose to stay at the campground.

This chocolate-themed city has more than museums, gardens, and fun parks. It also plays host to concerts, sports events, and theatrical shows in Hershey. Whether watching the towns amateur hockey team, catching a musical concert, or viewing a touring theatrical production, tourists have access to a wide array of entertainment.

I love Hershey! It truly is "the sweetest place on earth." I just wish "The Great American chocolate Bar" was still made in America and not Mexico! Thank you Governor Rendell!
