Skin benefits of sweet almond oil are so well known that this natural ingredient is used in a wide variety of cosmetic products, including lip balm, moisturizers, and shampoos. In order to avoid some of the harsh chemicals that are often found in these cosmetic products, many people prefer to use the sweet almond oil in its natural form.

Due to the benefits of sweet almond oil, this product is often used as a natural skin moisturizer and may form an effective barrier to help protect the skin in those who are prone to skin disorders such as sunburn or eczema. Those who live in areas with a colder climate often use sweet almond oil to help protect the skin from harsh or cold temperatures. Some claim that this oil may also give the skin a younger and healthier physical appearance.

Benefits also extend to the nourishment of the hair. This oil helps to promote hair growth and may be useful to those who are experiencing hair loss. Sweet almond oil also helps to moisturize the scalp, making it an ideal natural product for treating dandruff. When using sweet almond oil for this purpose, it is generally massaged into the scalp and then washed out thoroughly after about 15 minutes before shampooing as usual.

Almonds have natural anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties, adding to the benefits of sweet almond oil. This oil can be massaged into sore or inflamed muscles for immediate relief. Sweet almond oil can be taken internally to treat conditions such as heartburn or constipation. Almond oils are produced from sweet almonds (Prunus amygdalus) and from bitter almonds (aprunus amygdalus amara).
