While it is important to remember there is no miracle diet or magical cure to get rid of cellulite, it is possible to follow anti-cellulite diets that can help to reduce the appearance of existing cellulite, and possibly prevent more from appearing. Cellulite is deposits made up of fat and toxins not able to be used by the body or filtered by the liver; some people are more prone to it than others, but an unhealthy diet can certainly make the issue worse. In general, there aren't many different types of anti-cellulite diets. These diets are generally defined by a reduction in unhealthy fats, and an increase in healthy fruits and vegetables.
Cutting back on or cutting out unhealthy foods is one of the most important aspects of most anti-cellulite diets. This generally includes foods that are high in sugar and saturated fats. Fried foods, for example, are some of the worst offenders for cellulite. Foods high in salt should also be avoided as much as possible, as well. In general, processed foods tend to be very high in salt, sugar, and/or fat, and should be swapped out for fresh, whole foods as much as possible. Processed foods include things like prepackaged meals, as well as snack foods such as chips, cookies, candy, etc.
Another important aspect in most anti-cellulite diets is the reduction of alcohol consumption. Alcohol puts stress on the liver, making it more difficult to remove toxins from the body; it is also often very high in caloric content, which can contribute to the fatty deposits. Some anti-cellulite diets also recommend reducing or eliminating caffeine consumption, though this is not found in every diet recommendation. Some anti-cellulite creams even include caffeine as an ingredient, though the effectiveness of these creams has not been established.
Anti-cellulite diets also emphasize drinking plenty of water, which is good for the body overall, but can also help to remove toxins and improve digestion. Eating a diet primarily made up of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains can possibly help to reduce existing cellulite and prevent new cellulite from appearing. It is important to get protein, but this should generally come from lean sources such as fish or chicken, or from reduced-fat dairy items such as yogurt. In addition to dietary changes and calorie reduction, it is important to note that anti-cellulite diets generally recommend getting some exercise every day; this is an important part of a healthy lifestyle, and not just for reducing the appearance of cellulite!
