There are endless varieties of princess room decor. The possibilities range from fabric choices to fanciful wall and ceiling designs and adornments. Other types of princess room decor include furniture, such as beds, dressers, bookcases, chairs, lighting and mirrors — all keeping with a princess theme. Even the windows can be worked into the princess room decor, with either sheer curtains or painted shutters framing each window.
One of the main types of princess room decor is wall art. Walls can be hand painted with a beautiful mural depicting images such as a flowery castle scene, for instance. Walls can also be painted a light and airy color such as pink, violet, pale yellow, or light green. These solid-colored walls can then have stenciled patterns, such as lattice, interlacing flowers or leaves, or butterflies added. Wall decals that can be easily removed are another way to bring princess decor into a room.
The decor need not stop with the walls — many people carry the artwork onto the ceilings, too. For instance, this could include painting a ceiling blue and adding a few wispy clouds or rainbows. Other possibilities include cloud wall decals and hanging gauzy fabric from the ceiling, creating a romantic softness in the room.
Furniture choices can also lend well to a princess room decor theme. The bed, for example, could be a four-post bed with sheer fabric hanging from each post and across its top. Other options might include a bed designed as a castle or a carriage, and could include bunk bed or loft features. Additionally, other furniture such as bookcases, dressers, desks, chairs, and mirrors can be painted in the princess colors of pink and purple and bejeweled with faux diamonds, rubies, emeralds, and sapphires.
The windows also can provide a special way to display princess room decor. For example, they could be decorated with curtains in sheer fabrics or fancy patterns. They may also be surrounded with interior shutters with crowns, hearts, flowers, or other intricate designs carved into them. The shutters can be painted in princess colors such as pink, purple, and white as well.
Lighting should not be ignored when establishing princess room decor. In many cases, a plain ceiling light can be replaced with a decorative chandelier, for instance. The chandelier can be child-like or quite sophisticated, with countless crystals hanging from the fixture.
In many cases, princess room decor can be accomplished without the use of an interior designer. The most exquisite rooms, however, may require an artist to paint the murals or a carpenter to design the bed. In some cases, a princess room can be created by simply buying princess-like bedding and accessories from nearly any home store.
