When choosing evening primrose oil capsules, it is important to make sure that you are purchasing pure capsules. Many products contain ingredients other than primrose, and they are typically not as effective. It is also important to buy capsules from a reputable retailer.

Even though evening primrose oil capsules can be purchased online, it's a good idea to research the store that you intend to purchase a product from. As with all herbal supplements, no manufacturing standard has been set in place concerning evening primrose, so some stores offer authentic products that contain a large amount of primrose, while other stores sell artificial products. Choose a store that has received favorable consumer reviews, and stay away from stores that offer unknown brands.

After purchasing the capsules, make sure to follow the directions listed on the package that you choose. It is also a good idea speak with a medical professional prior to taking any kind of herbal supplement. While many people do not experience any side effects from evening primrose oil, some may have an adverse reaction to this type of supplement.

Capsules that do not contain pure oil may be less expensive. In some instances, products that contain other helpful ingredients, such as fish oil, may benefit your body. Deciding between a pure product and a product that is mixed with other ingredients is largely a matter of personal preference, though you should try to avoid any artificial ingredients.

Organic products can also be found in many health food stores, and while they tend to be more expensive than regular capsules, it is still important to read the ingredients. If you wish to purchase a product online, contacting a retailer in order to find out what a product contains is a good idea. If you cannot reach an online retailer, it is best to avoid purchasing any product.

Buying any herbal supplement requires some careful research. Some products may contain harmful ingredients, and other capsules may not be worth the cost. As with any other herbal supplement, make sure to keep evening primrose oil capsules away from children at all times. After taking a supplement, contact a medical professional right away if you experience any unwanted side effects. Depending on the reason why you want to use primrose oil, desired results may not appear until after many weeks of usage.

The Health Board is dedicated to providing accurate and trustworthy information. We carefully select reputable sources and employ a rigorous fact-checking process to maintain the highest standards. To learn more about our commitment to accuracy, read our editorial process.

I have been using evening primrose oil since December, when I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I have seen a tremendous difference. I am only taking one capsule a day, 500mg a day. It's very cheap: 14.95 for 100 caps.

I really like taking a combination of primrose oil, fish oil and flax seed oil capsules. This contains a nice range of fatty acids, which, even if the ingredients do nothing else, have been proved to be very good for you.

But, evening primrose oil benefits are pretty well recorded I think. It's especially good for your skin, and can also help with women troubles like bloat and period pain.

Flaxseed oil has other benefits, like lowering cholesterol.

But, you should make sure you aren't allergic to any of these things before setting out to try them.

If you were only going to take one, I'd say choose the fish oil.

You might also want to check how big the capsules are before you purchase them, as they probably won't let you return the bottle if it is opened.

Many people can't swallow large pills and vitamin capsules containing oils, like evening primrose oil supplements, are often bigger than most. Try to see if they have a photograph on their website, or if the person selling the capsules is willing to let you have a look at them if you're worried.
