They work alongside the architect to ensure that the building is fully operational and serves its intended purpose. The required material, cost, deadlines, and quality of the building are typically overseen by the architectural technologist. They primarily focus on the logistics, style, and performance of the building, and are usually present on the project from start to finish. The architectural technologist is a specialist who generally works for a design or construction company, but can also be a self-employed.
There are numerous duties involved in being an architectural technologist, but these are subject to change depending on the specifics of a project. A few of the general tasks include evaluating the project, analyzing surveys of the designated building area, drafting the building concept on paper, reviewing legal codes and requirements, applying all legal guidelines to the building design, organizing and submitting permit applications, formulating proposals and progress reports for client and involved parties, and making adjustments that guarantees that the building functions to its full potential.
