This usually takes the form of a power cable that can be plugged into a wall outlet in a home or business. The power is necessary, since a TV splitter amplifier can often more than double the strength of the original signal it receives. This ensures that as each split signal is sent to the various output devices connected to it, the audio and video quality received and displayed by each one is the best possible. Some of these splitters also have shielding to protect the connections from noise and interference from nearby electrical wires or devices.
