My father got a great golden handshake early retirement offer which he grabbed with both hands. I was a bit surprised as he loved working, but it was a good decision. A few months later involuntary redundancies were put into place, and the people forced to go got a lot less.

This is an interesting article. I have heard this kind of package referred to as a golden parachute, which is very apt for many of those who receive them!

I wonder if some people float from one position to the next, collecting their loot as they go? It seems likely, considering that I once read 80% of the top companies have a golden hand shake policy in place!
