A kitchen trolley is a serving cart that can also be used for storage. A kitchen cart has wheels, or casters, on the bottom so that it can be easily moved around the kitchen or moved into other areas of the home such as to a patio or to the dining room. In some kitchens, a trolley may be more of a movable work island while in others it is more of a storage cart kept against a wall or even inside a kitchen closet or pantry.

In the United Kingdom (UK) a kitchen trolley is sometimes called a butcher's trolley, especially if it features a wooden butcher's block style top. Some trolleys are made entirely of wood and feature shelves and a top drawer. An upper drawer in the trolley is handy for storing cooking utensils and some wooden trolleys have chrome basket inserts that work as lower drawers. Many of these are made from beech. A kitchen trolley may feature accessories such as a wine rack or towel bar.

The great thing about a kitchen trolley is that you can find one that fits in with the look of your kitchen and adjust it to meet your exact needs. For example, if you mainly want to have a cart to move from the kitchen to the deck for barbecues, you can use it as a storage rack in a corner of the kitchen most of the time and then fill the storage shelves or drawers with barbecue supplies when needed. If you get a kitchen trolley with a towel rack, you can have a handy towel on it for outdoor wipe-ups, plus add a hook to hang an extra barbecue oven mitt on.

Commercial kitchen trolleys are often made of stainless steel. They are used in many home kitchens today because of the popularity of stainless steel appliances. A commercial stainless steel trolley is not only durable, but can add great contemporary style to many kitchens.
