For centuries, people have used coconut oil to stimulate hair growth for people suffering from thinning hair or baldness, as well as to help existing hair become stronger and fuller. Some people have success using coconut oil to treat dandruff and prevent lice. Although many stores sell hair growth remedies made of coconut oil, most beauty professionals believe using pure virgin coconut oil produces the best results. There are several methods for using coconut oil for hair growth and restoration, all of which are simple enough to do at home.

Some studies have shown that coconut oil can help stimulate hair growth. This might be because of the vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients in the oil. Massaging these nutrients into the scalp can help stimulate hair follicles to produce more hair. Another reason using coconut oil for hair growth can work might be the protein the oil helps the hair maintain. Hair that retains protein is stronger and less likely to break off or fall out than hair that loses protein.

Using coconut oil for hair growth is just one way this nutrient-rich oil can benefit hair. Additional benefits of coconut oil include restoration of the existing hair, such as promotion of stronger, thicker, and shinier hair. When massaged into the scalp and left on at least half an hour before shampooing the hair as usual, coconut oil can help treat dandruff. Coconut oil can also aid in the prevention of lice. Of course, each of these additional benefits can promote hair growth because healthier hair is more likely to grow in a healthier environment.

There are several methods for using coconut oil for hair growth and restoration. For example, a person can apply enough oil to cover each strand of hair, and then wear a shower cap for at least a few hours or even overnight. This method should include a scalp massage before wearing the shower cap and can be done twice a week. Some people find that mixing the coconut oil with essential oils such as rosemary, tea tree, and lavender helps enhance the hair health benefits of coconut oil. Coconut oil can also be mixed with regular hair conditioner and used as often as the person shampoos and conditions his or her hair.

There are various coconut oil products to help with baldness and the promotion of healthy, thick hair on the market. People can find hair growth treatments and treatments for thinning hair made of coconut oil online and in traditional department stores, health and wellness stores, and beauty supply shops. Some beauty experts believe using products made with coconut oil isn’t as effective as using pure coconut oil, because the valuable nutrients in the oil could get lost in the process. These experts believe using pure virgin coconut oil that hasn’t been altered or mixed with chemicals will produce the best results. Like coconut oil hair products, virgin coconut oil is available in most health and wellness stores and even grocery stores.

Coconut oil is a really useful treatment when it comes to hair problems such as hair loss and hair dandruff! I also personally used it and it makes my hair so shiny and smoother!

Something I want to mention about using coconut oil or olive oil for hair growth is that if you keep it on overnight and do not cover your head with something, it can cause acne for oily skin. A friend of mine applied coconut oil to her hair once or twice a week and kept having acne on her forehead. When she spoke to the doctor about it, the doctor suggested that she stop using oils on her hair for a while.

The acne went away when she stopped using it. She has oily skin and I guess the oil was getting on her forehead and face from the roots of her hair and causing outbreaks of acne.

This might be something you want to watch out for when you are using hair oils. They are really beneficial but it might not be a good idea to overdo it if you have oily and acne prone skin.

Coconut oil hair treatments don't just promote hair growth and prevent dandruff, but also improves the quality of hair in general. Especially for difficult to manage hair that is frizzy and tangles a lot, I would really recommend using coconut oil.

I could not grow my hair long simply because my hair tangled so much that trying to brush it or style it would cause it to break off or have split ends. Since I have been applying coconut oil, my hair is softer, easier to brush and manage. I don't need to have my hair trimmed as much as I used to and so it is much longer now :)
