Crystal reiki is a form of healing that combines the two alternative healing modalities of reiki and crystal healing. In a reiki session, the healing energy is transferred from the practitioner’s hands to the client when the practitioner places his or her hands on the patient’s body. During a crystal healing session, energy is transferred to the client from crystals or stones. A client undergoing a crystal reiki session may have crystals placed directly on the body, or the crystals may be placed underneath the table or chair supporting the client. At the same time, the reiki practitioner will conduct a reiki healing treatment on the patient.

Reiki is an energy healing system developed in the early part of the twentieth century by Dr. Mikao Usui. In reiki workshops, reiki healing is taught alone, without any other healing modalities being utilized. There are three levels of reiki, and during the three classes students are taught three symbols to get the energy flowing for physical, emotional, and long distance healing. Students also learn the hand positions that have been determined to be most effective at transferring the reiki healing energy to a client.

Crystal healing has been around for centuries. The philosophy behind crystal and stone healing is that each stone has an energy that promotes different qualities in the person wearing or using it. For example, amethyst is believed to cleanse the aura and transmute unwanted energies. Many believe that amethyst has a protective quality and can also calm a person. Clear quartz, on the other hand, is believed to enhance the qualities of any other stones and crystals it is used with, so quartz crystal is frequently used during a crystal reiki healing session.

Those who administer or receive crystal reiki healing treatments believe that the energies of these two methods enhance one another and can effect healing on every level, including physical, emotional, and spiritual. There are various crystal layouts that can be used in a crystal reiki session. Sometimes stones and crystals are placed in a straight line on the chakras, or main energy centers, of the client during a crystal reiki treatment.

There are seven major chakras, and these are located at the crown, brow, throat, heart, solar plexus, sexual organs, and between the genitals and the tailbone. Sometimes the stones and crystals are placed around the person in a circle or another shape. By interviewing the client before the crystal reiki session starts, the practitioner will be able to determine the best crystals and type of layout to use in order to offer the most effective healing treatment.
