NAET, which stands for Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Techniques, is a naturopathic solution for allergy sufferers. It is non-invasive, and provides a drug-free, natural treatment to eliminate or reduce various allergy symptoms and conditions. NAET uses a blend of treatments, such as chiropractic, nutritional and energy treatments to treat allergies. The overall goal of NAET is to strengthen the immune system of the allergy sufferer to reduce any reactions and subsequent symptoms.

Allergies are believed by some to be the root of other ailments. An allergy is a reaction by the body’s immune system to a foreign particle. During an allergic reaction, the immune system is stimulated by the foreign particle to release histamines, which cause the symptoms of allergic reactions. Any foreign particle that causes an allergic reaction is referred to as an allergen.

During NAET treatments, only one allergen is treated at a time. Through a number of sessions, the patient will eventually become desensitized to all allergens. The number of treatments needed relies on the immune system of the patient, and the strength of the allergy. NAET can decrease or completely eliminate seasonal allergies, like pollen and ragweed, animal allergies, food allergies, perfumes and scents allergies, and allergies to makeup and other topical allergens.

Patients can undergo any number of different types of treatments during this process. After initial testing and diagnosis to determine the exact causes of the allergies, NAET attempts to reprogram the central nervous system to not react to the allergen. Many patients are treated with acupressure, although acupuncture may be necessary for some more serious allergies.

This technique is also able to decrease the severity of serious allergies, such as peanut allergies. The patient’s first treatment assesses nutrient deficiencies in the body, and subsequent sessions assess harmful effects of chemicals, environmental allergens and medication, vaccinations and immunizations. Several treatments are generally needed to decrease a strong allergy, and the average number of sessions can range from 15 to 25.

The effectiveness of NAET is founded on the theory that many prevalent diseases are actually rooted in issues with allergies. The technique is said to decrease symptoms ranging from joint pain, inflammation, PMS and back pain, to much more serious diseases like heart attacks, strokes, tumors and addiction. The creators of the technique have performed studies and found that many symptoms were reported as resolved after 15 sessions in most study subjects, but that serious ailments may require more than 50 sessions.
