A double stroller is a necessary item for parents of twins as well as parents that have two or more young children. Children tire quickly when walking and, unfortunately as human beings we only have one set or arms. There are several things to consider when buying a double stroller.

Double strollers, also known as duo or tandem strollers, are available in many different styles that appeal to every lifestyle. When purchasing a double stroller consider what you will be using it for most frequently. There are double joggers, tandem strollers, sit and stands and double umbrella strollers.

The double jogging stroller is perfect for those who love the outdoors. It can be easily maneuvered over all terrains without excessive physical exertion. The double jogging stroller has large bicycle style wheels, hand brakes and safety straps. Some double jogging strollers are also equipped with roll bars on the front to prevent harm to your children if it flips. The only downfalls to this style of double stroller are that it doesn't fit down the clothing aisles of most department stores and it is heavy.

The tandem stroller is narrow, with the children sitting either one in front of the other or facing each other. It is perfect for people who like to frequent malls or department stores. Another plus with the tandem stroller is that it usually has large storage baskets underneath for purses or diaper bags. This double stroller, however, can't be easily steered on grass, dirt, or downhill as it pulls to one side or the other. It is also somewhat heavy and doesn't fit easily in the trunks of small cars.

The double umbrella stroller is perfect for quick trips to the store or mall. It accommodates children thirty pounds and under, but doesn't work well for infants, as the seats don't recline. This type of double stroller is slimmer than other side-by-side models, so it fits fine between most clothing racks. It is a lightweight stroller that folds compactly for easy storage in trunks and closets.

The sit-and-stand is the perfect stroller for parents who have an infant and a toddler. The infant seat accommodates infant carriers and also reclines fully when the baby no longer needs the carrier. This double stroller has a bench seat for toddlers to sit on and a platform for children who wish to stand. The sit-and-stand is slim, making it perfect for the mall but doesn't work well for outdoor recreation due to the small wheels. It folds easily and fits in most trunks, making it a versatile stroller.
