There are many different ways to get rid of cellulite on thighs, many of them all natural and without the use of pharmaceutical creams or drugs. Most commercial products do not effectively remove cellulite, although some may help improve the look of the skin minimally. The best way to get rid of it is to improve the quality of the skin and the way the body stores and removes fat from the body.

Cellulite is composed of fat deposits under the skin that cause the skin to take on a lumpy or "cottage cheese" appearance. Almost everyone has cellulite to some degree, even those who are not overweight. Unlike the fat stored in cells that is used during times of real or perceived famine, cellulite has no functional purpose and is caused by the hardening of fat into small lumps under the top layers of skin. Cellulite does not accumulate just anywhere, but primarily shows up on the hips, thighs, belly, buttocks, breast, and neck.

One of the best ways to get rid of cellulite on the thighs is to drink more water during the day. Having enough fluids helps diminish the appearance of cellulite and prevents new problem areas from forming by adding elasticity to the skin and by helping to flush fat out of the body. Avoiding caffeine and other agents that cause dehydration and water retention is also helpful.

Those who are overweight are encouraged to get down to a healthy size by increasing exercise and decreasing the number of calories from fat in the diet. Not only is too much fat bad for the skin, but it promotes weight gain. When the body burns fat, it also helps get rid of cellulite in the process.

Improved circulation in the legs also helps get rid of cellulite on thighs. This can be achieved by doing exercises that work the thighs, such as running or riding a bike. Yoga is another useful exercise in decreasing the appearance of cellulite. More experienced fitness buffs can begin doing strength training exercises to build muscle and reduce the appearance of this fat, although it will not actually remove the cellulite itself.

There are no creams that actually remove or get rid of cellulite, although there are some that help decrease its appearance by plumping up the surrounding skin. Some research also shows that applying natural ingredients, such as coffee grounds, to the area daily may help the skin look better. Wearing tight hosiery may also help cellulite to compress into the skin more, reducing its appearance.

WiseGEEK is dedicated to providing accurate and trustworthy information. We carefully select reputable sources and employ a rigorous fact-checking process to maintain the highest standards. To learn more about our commitment to accuracy, read our editorial process.

The most important part in getting rid of cellulite is exercise and proper nutrition.

I decided to browse the internet for “cellulite reduction." I wasn’t going to buy any creams or do any expensive wrap sessions; I just wanted to see what is out there and I found the Naked Beauty program.

I couldn’t wait to get started. After the first few times I could feel and see the results. I knew it was working! I could feel muscles that I never thought ever moved, especially my inner thighs, back of my legs and right under the butt cheeks.

Thanks to the program, I could get rid of the cellulite and I gained back my beautiful smooth skin again.

Agreed. We can all use more exercise. But please don't understate the value of a healthy diet, not just to control weight, but for total, holistic health.

Lots of my friends have asked me how to get rid of cellulite on thighs, fast? Fortunately, the answer is easy: exercise.

Sure, diet and a generally healthy lifestyle are important. But you've got to exercise, starting now.

Number 1: Walk. Walk a lot, from one to three miles a day for five or six days a week. Walking has an added benefit: it's incredibly good for your mental health. Then, start walking faster.

Number 2: There are a number of exercises you can do on your yoga mat in the living room.

Lie face down, then lift your legs at the knee and hold. Try 10 seconds at first, but go for longer as quickly and safely as you can.

While on your knees and elbows, raise one leg at a time with the knee bent at 45 degrees. Hold for as long as you can (remember to listen to your body to avoid injury).

Finally, do the "thigh chair," or the iron chair. Simply back up against a wall, squat and sit. Your thighs should end up perpendicular to the ground.

Again, hold as long as you can, and don't be discouraged that it will start to burn like crazy in just 15 seconds! Good luck!
