Which Country is the Biggest Orange Juice Producer?

Brazil produces more than half of the world's orange juice supply and is the leading exporter of orange juice. In fact, Brazil's orange juice exports make up about 85% of the global orange juice export market. The second-largest producer of orange juice is the United States, but the U.S. falls far behind on exports — 90% of orange juice produced in the U.S. stays in the U.S., but Brazil exports about 99% of its orange juice.

More on the orange juice industry:

  • Of all the oranges produced in the world, about one-third of them go for processing, and most of those are made into orange juice.

  • Brazilian orange juice production has risen so rapidly that the U.S. has started charging a 15% tariff on orange juice imports from Brazil to prevent the "dumping" of orange juice.

  • Managing an orange grove in the U.S. costs about $2,000 US Dollars (USD) per acre (about $800 USD per hectare). This cost has risen more than 60% since the early 2000s.
